Work Log #1: May 2013

May 27th-June 2nd: Crazy weekend, but needed the good break. Jack is out of town for the first part of this week but the rest of us will keep on truckin.

Monday

  • Memorial Day!
  • New posts on the website
  • Planning trip out to New York (personal reasons but trying to fit in some studio visits to other indies while I’m at it)

Tuesday

  • Bunch of stuff unrelated to the game but which I had to take care of (bank visit, managing the books &etc.)

Wednesday

  • New posts on the blog
  • More head work — still some kinks to work out, unfortunately it’s all taking longer than I’d hoped

Thursday

  • New head from start to finish
  • Tested different painting and lighting techniques for the face models
  • Team chat on how our current setup for communication isn’t cutting it — need chat logs and to do a better job of all team members keeping each other up to date what they’re working on

Friday

  • Mass produce a variety of eyeballs for the pilot portraits — faster this way than doing repaints of the eyes for each model. Instead start from a base type then just tweak

May 20th-26th: Got a late start on Monday because I stayed up until 3 on Sunday night fiddling with mostly unimportant things. This kind of stuff echoes out in a bad way, but of late has been common practice.

Monday

  • Sketched 1 additional character turnaround
  • Finished ‘about’ page on website
  • Found 4 more game sites for the contact / schmooze list when we officially announce the game

Tuesday

  • Began modeling new pilot portrait
  • Long pow-wow with team members on game structures

Wednesday

  • Finished 1st new portrait
  • Experimented with different lighting setups for portraits

Thursday

  • Recolored 1st new portrait
  • Finished 2nd new portrait
  • Updated blog

Friday

  • Team meeting — planning out next few weeks of work
  • Went back to 2nd portrait for recolor
  • Began 3rd portrait

Weekend

  • Trip to chicago, so no work of substance done on my end
